Book Review: Undaunted by Christine Caine

Undaunted: Daring to Do What God Calls You to Do by Christine Caine is not your typical "dream big dreams" Christian book. Part memoir, part Christian living book, Christine Caine uses the story of how her life unfolded into a God driven adventure to illustrate the steps and pitfalls along the way of living an "undaunted" life for Christ.

I was extremely eager to read this book. I have been following Christine Caine for some time now because she seems to be doing similar work for God that I feel God is leading me toward. I was not only interested to read her theological thoughts, but also to read about her back story, where she came from, how she got her calling and how she started in her ministries. For me, someone who doesn't usually enjoy memoirs, I really enjoyed her balance of life experience and biblical teaching. I enjoyed reading about a real person that had experienced real pain in her life who seems just as devoted to following Christ as I am. Not only did her lessons speak powerfully to me, but her life path in general was a huge encouragement to read about as one who is seeking to serve the Lord.

From a literary standpoint, the book is very well written and well organized. The lessons that she pulls from her life experience are not only biblical, but very fresh. So many of these kinds of books tell a person's life story only to, at the end of the chapter, pull out a lesson that we have read over and over again that any Christian could share. Christine Caine pulls unique and universally applicable meaning from her walk with Christ and in the end, I felt like just about any task for God was possible through Him.

This book was extremely uplifting and a pleasure to read. I recommend it for any Christian who needs to see where God can use pain for His ultimate glory or any Christian who wants to strengthen their Christian walk by learning from example.

I received this book free of charge from booksneeze.com in return for my honest review.
