"What's one thing I could do this week to have an impact on the world around me?"
This question is the basis for the book Spark: Transform Your World, One Small Risk at a Time by Jason Jaggard. Jaggard's book revolves around the idea that great things start with one small spark, or risk. From years of experience in encouraging the creative potential in people, Jaggard has become an expert in what it means to use risk taking to transform the world around you. He knows that one small "spark" can lead to another "spark" and this book leads the reader down that path and encourages them to keep that spark moving in the right direction.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I have read many books about dreaming big and doing risky things for God, but this one really had something new to say. I loved the concept of a spark group, groups he recommends forming with others to encourage one another to take a new risk each week. I also like how he kept going back to the Bible to show how people in those times took risks as well.
My favorite part of this book, though, is the one-liner quotes you can take from the writing. This book is full of lines that would make awesome stand alone quotes. In fact, some were so incredible that I was compelled to tweet them. "Don't try to be perfect. Try to be profound." "The more you enjoy your life, the more important it is to bring other people into it." "You were designed to live an inspiring life." I could go on and on.
This book is not just about dreaming big dreams, but pushing through them as well. It's about challenging a generation of Christians to pry themselves from their comfort zones and take a risk. I highly recommend this book to all Christians, and even non-Christians who can tolerate the bible references. This society needs more risk takers and this books shows us where to start.
I was provided this book free of charge by Waterbrook Publishing in return for my honest review.
